Design-A-Mask Contest Winner

Moose Hockey

As part of the IIHF World Girls' Hockey Weekend, Moose goaltender, Katie Greenway, held goalie sessions for female minor hockey goalies in the atom, peewee, bantam and midget divisions. Each goalie in attendance was offered an opportunity to enter a Design-A-Mask contest.

They were asked to create something unique that reflected female hockey with designs voted on by Katie and the Moose Hockey team. After review of multiple submissions the mask by Maeva Tremblay, 1st year bantam goaltender with the Meadow Ridge Barracudas was chosen. Congratulations Maeva!

Maeva's design was very clever and captured the hearts of the Moose. Her design includes a Moose and the BC Hockey & Team Canada logos. The mask is in the Barracuda association colors and also includes their slogan, Play Like A Girl. Maeva also incorporated Katie's hockey history with the St. Francis Xavier University Athletics logo and a Switzerland flag*. Well done :)

As the contest winner, Maeva will receive 2 tickets and join the Moose at the Canucks vs. Buffalo Sabres game on Dec 7th, which celebrates the Canucks #20in20 West Coast Express night honoring Naslund, Morrison & Bertuzzi.

*Katie graduated with a degree in Human Kinetics after a 4 year career with the StFX X-Women team in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and went on to play professionally with the ZSC Zurich Lions in the Swizz A women's league. She returned to Canada in 2014 and is completing her master's degree in Kinesiology at UBC.
