Week 10: Moose win two at GPF

Two road wins at the Great Pacific Forum allowed the Meadow Ridge Moose to extend their lead atop the standings, and assure themselves of remaining in first place into the New Year.
The Moose defeated the South Fraser TNT 5-2 Saturday afternoon, then blanked the Delta Jets 2-0 on Sunday.
Meadow Ridge ran their record to 13-0-0, five points up on the 9-1-3 Kamloops Vibe.
A four-goal first period was the key to Saturday's win over the TNT. Kristin Hazzard, Clara Gaudet, Sierra Rai and Madeline Cockrill were the goal scorers for the Moose in the opening 15 minutes. Kirsten Langston added the fifth Moose goal in the second frame, with Hazzard collecting her second assist of the contest.
Courtney Tam and Hilary Spires were the South Fraser goal scorers.
Paige Clark stopped 19 of 21 shots to get the own in the Moose goal.
Meadow Ridge had to solve the goaltending of Kassandra Johnston to get the win Sunday. The Moose fired 36 shots at the Jets goals, but only Kacey Lepp and Jade Werger were able to beat johnston, who made 34 saves.
Meadow Ridge goalie Alexandra Frisk turned aside 14 shots for the shutout.
The Jets were also blanked Saturday night in Richmond, falling 4-0 to the third-place Richmond Devils.
Richmond got second period goals from Stefanie Costales and Jane Gregory-Herbold, and tallies from Nicole Lim and Gregory-Herbold in the third.
Olivia Hutchinson made 30 saves on 34 shots in the Jets goal, while Renee Romain earned the shutout with 16 saves in the Richmond goal.
